My opinon on the FF VII Remake gameplay trailer

I just finished watching the first gameplay trailer for the highly-anticipated Final Fantasy VII remake by Square-Enix and here are my main thoughts and hopes for any upcoming trailers.

The graphics looked good. Seems like the team working on FF VII remake is using the same high-end toolbox as the FF XV team. It's going to be fun exploring the slums and Golden Saucer with the new graphics and camera prospective.

The Action RPG like battles are ok with me. It was all about the limit break and Materia System that really stood out to me in the original game anyway. After playing several hours of Kingdom Hearts and FF Dissida, I'm quite alright with a more fluid combat system.  This gameplay trailer didn't really show the Materia system/menu at all. Only showed the first mission, with Cloud and Barret, so view of what Tifa or Red XIII and the rest of the gang look like.

There's going to be voice acting it seems even for the minor characters. Whoever gets the role of Sepiroth is going to be judged by fans big time.

As for the music We have plenty of orchestral arrangements of the FF VII music thanks to FF VII: Advent Children. Then the Distant Worlds concert series has shown that orchestras all over the world can perform the music form From Final Fantasy games. It's still really early and we only really got a taste of a few songs (the reveal trailer back in e3 and this one). While the piano version worked for the CG film during the scence it was used, The Remake should definitely update with more instruments.
  • There is a Magic command so I hope Materia still make a big difference. I'm one of the strange ones that found the Materia system cool but could not stand the GF junction system in FF8.

Added on: I just read an article on Game Informer that the FF VII remake will be a multi-part release. I hope they mean that they learned from the critical feedback during the FF XIII, XIII-2 and Lighting Returns releases and make it work. I'm also hoping this means more dungeons and side-content not found in the classic FF VII.

Can't wait for the next video update from SE.
