Replaying the original Torchlight with some add-ons

Torchlight 1 is a game is a game I bought once the retail edition was available. That was around 2010. When it was being released by Encore. Played the game Vanquisher (ranger-style). Remember reaching the final floors of the main dungeon but I just kept on getting overwhelmed at the final boss battle. Over and over again.

Starting over from the start with a new character on Normal difficulty

The Starting Armor doesn't look intimidating at all. lol.

So which community made modifications did I decide to try out?

  • The Lady Knight Mod
    • What it does is allows me to play as a different character than the standard Vanquisher. A female character with better Strength and a melee focused skill tree.
  • White Tiger (Big Cats)
    •  Mod that changes the default cat into a more formidable White Tiger after they are fed a fish. Aside from changing the cat aesthetically, appears to get a stat boost as well.
  • No BS Enchanter
    • This makes it so that the enchantments never fail,or make your equipment weaker
    • I remember when playing vanilla Torchlight this would be the main thorn in my side. I would go to enchant in hopes of more slots only to have the reverse happen.
  • Respec
    • Installs a special potion at the potion shop that resets all the skill tree points. Just in case I wanted to change the play style of the Lady Knight without restarting a new game.
See the screenshot above, of the character loading screen.  Two mods in action.

Runic Games sure made Torchlight really mod friendly, You just extract the root folder of the mod you downloaded into a specific subfolder in your User account! Then run the game.

Only downside I've seen is that the more mods you add on the longer it take for the game to load up at the start.
